July
July 1st - London: Jungle Mania
Funki and EHM promotions [ a.k.a Elevation ] are becoming known as a very busy organisation as they take over the LA2 [ London Astoria 2, underneath the main Astoria building ] in the west end to start hosting a new series of parties representing that new sound, Jungle Mania.
July 1st - Milton Keynes: Dreamscape
Murray Beeston from ESP promotions steps back into the fray when they come back to their home patch to present "Dreamscape XI - The Pinch And The Punch" at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
A guaranteed sell-out party from the outset and held on the hottest day of the year so far, the venues inadequate air conditioning supply comes into the spotlight as some ravers collapse on the dancefloor and several unlucky guests have to be taken to hospital.
Afterwards, a very pissed off Murray Beeston [ who witnessed the whole event unfolding ] contacts Tony Rosenburg [ the owner of The Sanctuary ] to complain about the lack of air conditioning and says to him that it needs to be addressed immediately because they have been quite a few complaints about this serious issue from other organisers who have used his venue before.
Murray also goes on to say that he will happly cancel the next Dreamscape party and give out refunds if the situation isn't corrected in time as ravers lives come first. The owner of the Sanctuary has agreed to "Up-rate" the air conditioners in time for the next rave at his venue.
July 2nd - Blackpool: Zone
In the tourist mecca of the north, otherwise known as Blackpool, Melody House promotions are about to give their regulars a very good reason to put on their gladrags again as they celebrate Zone's third birthday at The Venue in Blackpool, Lancashire.
July 4th - National: The Prodigy
In retaliation to the Government's Criminal Justice Bill, The Prodigy show the public that they have come of age when they release their second album "Music For The Jilted Generation".
Music critics are suprised as the Jilted Generation is seen as a drastic pitch-switch from the squeeky vocal, breakbeat, "rave band" image they acquired when they burst on the scene a few years back with their seminal Experience album. What the critics don't know is that the group are switching up a gear in preparation to motivate a brand new overground audience.
With no time to lose, the group typically celebrated the launch of their Jilted Generation album by previewing it when they go on a extensive Jilted Generation tour of the United Kingdom!.
